June has entered the chat, and you know what that means…Hot Girl Summer has arrived! With this being our first summer post quarantine, I wanted to share 5 tips to have body confidence this hot girl summer.

5 Tips for Body Confidence This Hot Girl Summer

Coined by the queen Meg herself, hot girl summer means “just being you and just having fun.” But how can we do that if we don’t have confidence in our bodies? I know Body Positivity is a very trendy yet controversial subject. However, I’m here to talk about confidence in its most simplified form: believing in yourself.

How Do I Become More Self Confident?

First, let’s define confidence. Confidence is a feeling of self-assurance arising from one’s appreciation of one’s abilities or qualities. That means that self-confidence is a state of mind, meaning that any and everyone can be confident.  Now I know it’s impossible to be sure of yourself at every moment, but what we can do is continually put our best foot forward.

By doing this, we put our insecurities behind us and live our best lives. Because despite them, we have the ability to achieve great things.

Embrace Your Insecurities

Like I said previously, this is our first summer after the pandemic, and our bodies may have changed. Whether it’s weight gain, stretch marks, or body hair, that shouldn’t stop you from living your life. It’s uncomfortable at first, but with time and effort, you’ll be able to stop letting your insecurities rule your life.

If you’d like more insight on how to do this, read my post on How to Improve Your Body Image in 9 Steps.

Stop Comparing Yourself to Others

In a world where social media is so prevalent, it is natural to compare yourself to the people you see while scrolling through your feed. And though it is not inherently bad, comparison is the thief of all joy. Besides, Instagram is a highlight reel, and that’s okay. We all want to show the best parts of our lives. But you have to remember that we don’t know what is happening behind closed doors. The only person you should be comparing yourself to is yourself. There is no point chasing a dream that is not your own.

Girl, Wear The Damn Outfit

Clothes rack. Wearing what makes you happy will give you body confidence this hot girl summer.

Wear that skirt, wear those shorts, and wear that tank top! I am guilty of thinking that I can’t wear a piece of clothing because of the way I look. Obviously, wear what makes you happy and comfortable, but if you think something is cute, buy it and rock it.

Do not be afraid to try something new. Fashion is fun, and you should express yourself however you please. You should not care what anyone thinks because if you radiate confidence and positive energy, nothing else matters.

Surround Yourself With People Who Hype You Up

You are the sum of the people you surround yourself with, and who wants to be around people who make them feel like crap. Don’t get caught up in the number of friends you have. I’d rather have one genuine friend than twelve “friends” who don’t care about me. Read, Toxic Friends, Do you Have Them or are You one of Them?

So, next time you’re out with your friends this hot girl summer, really think about how your friends make you feel.

Stop Seeking External Validation

We are all guilty of this. However, one of the biggest things that helped me in my body confidence journey was learning to stop seeking external validation. Maybe it’s the scale, or perhaps you are seeking the approval of others. Whatever it is, the only thing that will make you happy is you. Look inside yourself before going to outside sources. And yes, sometimes we need that compliment, but what happens when there’s no one there to give it to us? That is when you remind yourself that you are valid and beautiful just the way you are.

Those were my 5 tips for achieving body confidence this hot girl summer. I hope these tips help you go into summer 2021 with joy and pride in yourself and your body.

Have a lovely day,

Meilyn.
