Happy Earth Day!
We only get one earth, and our planet doesn’t care about the color of our skin, the language we speak, or the sports team we rep. If the earth stops working, we will see just how much we are all alike, you know with basic needs like water, sun, food, and shelter. Here, are a few ways you can celebrate earth day on April 22 and all year long.
Donate your clothes to H&M
Drop off your clothes and textiles in any condition to your local H&Mfor a coupon for 15% off. I tend to do this once a month by bringing any size bag to the store, the drop off box is usually in the front next to the cashiers. Without waiting in line I’ll grab an employee’s attention to hand over the donation in exchange for the coupon. I have several in my wallet (good thing they don’t expire) and they can be used on any purchase.
Go Thrifting
Buy second hand and lower your carbon footprint. Think about the raw materials that are processed then transported and the chemicals involved in making clothes. It takes 2,700 liters of water to make one T-shirt, think about how much water we are saving by buying second hand!
I’ll let you in on a little secret my favorite and most complimented pieces have been found at my local goodwill. There are goodwills, buffalo exchange, and consignment stores that are perfect if you are looking for a vintage find or that one-of-a-kind piece.
Thredup is a good option if you can’t give up the convenience of shopping online in your PJs. What’s different about Thredup is they are not only the online thrift store with brands like Zara, Kate Spade, Loft, H&M, and Prada… but they offer the cleanout bag which they ship to you for free. So, you can fill the bag with all the clothes you want to sell or donate. The idea is that they are looking for on-trend items to sell on their site so you can either get an upfront payout or payment when your item sells. You have the option to allow them to recycle the items they don’t want or pay for return shipping.
Whatever your thrifting method or if you haven’t shopped secondhand before give it a try because upcycle is here to stay.
Meet me at the Beach
Meet your friends at the beach for some fun and bring a trash bag with you to collect all the trash you see so it doesn’t end up in the ocean killing sea animals.

Take a Hike
Same concept here, get outside and explore hiking trails with a trash bag ready to collect what you see. You can even do this challenge that went viral a few months back

Bring Your Own Produce Bag
Massachusetts has banned shopping bags but they haven’t banned the clear rolls of plastic near the produce. Not sure why since those are the most single-use bags ever.
So I have been bringing my own cotton tote bags with me for my produce or you can get mesh reusable bags off amazon
More than Straws
I am so glad people are using reusable straws but it doesn’t end there. There are easy and inexpensive swaps that can literally make the word of a difference.
Use reusable water bottles instead of buying packs of plastic water bottles.
Swap out your plastic containers for containers, it’s better for you as well because the chemicals from the plastic won’t leak into your food.
In the spirit of taking care of the Earth I couldnt leave this post without a self-care tip. I have been taking a gummy multi-vitamin for about a year now and besides the candy like taste, there is nothing remarkable about them. Now, I have only taking these beautiful instagramable vitamins for less than a week and but I can confidently say that I see what the hype is about.

Ritual
For Earth day, Ritual is running a special promotion where you can get 10% off your first three months. I have only been using Ritual for less than a week but I already feel a boost in my focus. It’s designed to fill the gaps in our diet that cause dips in energy, focus, and function. Containing 9 essential nutrients that we don’t get enough of.
Vegan-friendly capsules made from plant fiber instead of gelatin which comes from animal parts like bones and beef hides. Using plant fiber cellulose helps reduce the carbon footprint that goes along with animal processing. Ritual is committed to researching and sourcing all high-quality ingredients throughout the world. I look forward to finishing this month’s bottle and talking about this more in depth.
Happy Earth…happy life.
Let’s do something every day that’s good for us mentally, physically, and environmentally.
